Camp’s Smithfield Center to reopen July 19 (opens new window)

Camp Community College’s Smithfield Center, which has been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, is scheduled to reopen for business Monday, July 19.
The center will be open for registration and advising, and the computer lab will be open to students. In person classes will return for the fall semester, beginning in August.
Starting July 19, Camp Smithfield Center summer hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to noon on Fridays. The Center will resume normal hours, Monday, August 9. Fall hours will be 8:30 a.m.

Commencement speaker persevered over many hurdles to graduate (opens new window)

Shaunqeitra Person is a study in perseverance. Her positive attitude, and help from Camp Community College staff, helped her achieve her goal of graduating with a degree and dreams of moving on to further her education.
Person is the student speaker at Camp’s 50th Annual Commencement Exercises on May 14. The ceremony will be held virtually on the college’s YouTube channel. Person will graduate with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. Her next goal is to transfer to Norfolk State University to pursue a degree in psychology to become a licensed counselor and life coach.
