Campus police emphasize that vigilance is the key to ensuring a safe working and learning environment. Noting everyone has a stake in maintaining safety and security, they advise, "If you see something, say something." Report suspicious activity to the Virginia Peninsula Community College Police department. For emergency assistance, dial 9-1-1 from any campus phone. From cell phones while on campus, call 757-825-3511 for direct link to the College's police department. Police indicate some examples of suspicious activity include:

On 12 July 2022, at approximately 11:26 a.m., the City of Franklin Emergency Communication Center received a phone call stating that a bomb had been discovered at the Paul D. Camp Community College, located at 100 North College Drive. Members of the City of Franklin Police, Fire, and Emergency Services responded to the scene and assisted in the evacuation of campus buildings.
The Virginia State Police responded with explosive detection canines to assist in the search of the campus. All Paul D.

Campus police worked with the Hampton police department and the Hampton fire department to make sure everyone was safe following a bomb threat July 12. Virginia Peninsula Community College was one of multiple institutions in the Commonwealth subject to a bomb threat July 12. Threats also were received at Tidewater Community College (Chesapeake campus), Norfolk State University, and Regent University.

Virginia Peninsula Community College’s new name became official July 1, but the school publicly celebrated the change July 12 at its Hampton campus. A ceremony, which lasted about 30 minutes, took place at the Hampton campus near the tower beside Interstate 64. More than 100 students, faculty, staff, board members, community and local industry leaders were on hand to hear from College President Dr. Towuanna Porter Brannon, Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck, and others. They had a common theme: While the name has changed, the College’s commitment to its students has not.

The College’s 2022-2023 parking permits will be availablE starting July 11. Visit the Photo IDs and Parking Permits webpage in the faculty/staff section to download and print an application. You will receive your permit on the same day upon bringing your completed application to the Photo ID Office (Hampton campus -Diggs Hall, room 155 ) or (Historic Triangle campus, room 116).

Danny Bridges is in his third year on the Educational Foundation board. When Danny Bridges, an executive with the engineering firm of McGill Associates, relocated to Hampton Roads in 2018, he looked for ways to form relationships with community partners. “I participated heavily in the chamber of commerce, attended a lot of their events and meetings and tried to meet people,” he said.

Michael Adams shows off his award for being named the College's athlete of the year. When Michael Adams was considering Virginia Peninsula Community College, formerly Thomas Nelson, he wasn’t aware it had a baseball team. He was interested in becoming a firefighter and knew the College could put him on that path. A year later, after a successful baseball season for the Gators, he was named the College’s athlete of the year and was honored June 27 at the Peninsula Sports Club Headliner’s Night. “It was pretty cool,” he said of the honor.

Formerly Thomas Nelson, the College officially takes its new name July 1 and will publicly usher it in at noon on July 12 with a grand rebranding event.
