Camp Community College will hold a “One Stop Fun Registration Day” at the college’s Hobbs Suffolk Campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. The Hobbs Campus is located at 271 Kenyon Road.
The event will include registration for the 2022 Fall Semester, a chance to meet with financial aid and academic advisors, and the chance to win a $250 scholarship for the 2022 Fall Semester.

David Lannon joined the College in 2019 and moved into his new position April 25 of this year. The Latin word “veritas” is not in every dictionary and not easily translated into English. Colleges, universities and other diverse organizations often use it in mottoes as it stands for an ideal such as truth, kindness or beauty. For the Virginia Community College System, it stands for Veteran Education Resource Initiative for Transition, Advising and Success. David Lannon, the new VERITAS liaison at Thomas Nelson, can translate his job into one sentence.

Domonique Mabry isn't intimidated by her big move halfway across the country. When Domonique Mabry moved halfway across the country, from Kansas to Virginia, she had no job lined up, but she had a dream: to be an engineer. She’s making another big move, this time from Hampton to Austin, Texas, and she has a job lined up with Tesla, one of the biggest automobile plants in the country. She will be a controls technician working on new batteries for the company’s electric vehicle.

The Virginia Attorney General’s office in partnership with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and the Virginia State Bar will provide free estate planning services for low-income veterans, their spouses and widows. The first Veterans Legal Services Clinic since 2018, the event will take place Thursday, June 16 at Thomas Nelson, which is becoming Virginia Peninsula Community College. Presented at the Hampton campus, the free services include basic wills, power of attorney, and advanced medical directives.

Campuses in Hampton and Williamsburg along with satellite locations will be closed Monday, June 20 in observance of Juneteenth. Classes and services will resume Tuesday, June 21 at Thomas Nelson which is becoming Virginia Peninsula Community College. Many services, including registration, are available online at tncc.edu. New and returning students may register now for fall classes.

Thomas Nelson safety officials offer an important reminder. The 2022 hurricane season lasts through Nov. 30 and preparedness is crucial to your safety as well as to response and recovery efforts. Preparation begins by identifying your personal risks. Key things to consider include the location of your residence (flood zone, etc.); type of insurance coverage (homeowners and flood); whether or not you have a plan; your evacuation route; as well as where and how will you obtain information.
